Top Reasons Why You Should Become A Game Developer

If you’re currently looking for a new career path, and you currently have adequate computer skills, opting to enroll on a game design degree course could completely turn your life around. Most of these courses take around three years to complete, and once you’ve graduated, you’ll be able to work for some of the most innovative and fun companies in the world. Some people think this job would be incredibly difficult, and while that might be true, ultimately it’s very rewarding. However, if you’re still not 100% convinced, just spend the next few minutes reading through some of the points I’ve made below. After doing so, I don’t think anyone in the world would be able to argue with the fact that becoming a game developer is a brilliant move.

You’ll earn a good wage for a change

We all know what it’s like to go to work for 40 hours each week and still never earn enough to do the things you want to do, and while this might be fine when you’re younger, at some point everyone needs something better. An official qualification in HTML5 game development will mean you have lots of skills relevant employers find desirable, and so obtaining a well paid position will be easy.

You’ll probably get to travel

Unless you live very near to one of the top game development companies, the chances are you’ll have to relocate when you’re offered the job of your dreams. This could mean simply moving around your home country, or even emigrating abroad if the opportunity presents itself. Just think how cool it would be to spend the remainder of your working days in the US, or another country where the industry is significantly large enough to offer such employment avenues.

Your kids will think you’re a superhero

Children love computer games these days, and your own little ones will probably spend a lot of time playing them already, right? Well, imagine being able to come home and tell them “I made that”. I think it’s safe to say they’d presume you’re some kind of sorcerer, but there probably isn’t a cooler job in the eyes of your kids, so you’ll score some serious brownie points. You could even work on games specifically for them in your free time, which would obviously impress even the most hard to please youngster.

You’ll be much happier

Although some people who work unskilled jobs lie to themselves and pretend they enjoy them, we all know that’s a load of rubbish. After spending ten years working in warehouses and factories myself upon leaving school, I know all too well how draining and demeaning those roles can be. If you get a qualification in game design and become a professional developer, not only will you enjoy waking up in the morning and leaving for work, but you’ll also enjoy your duties while you’re there. Not many people in the world are allowed this luxury.

After reading through those points, you should be under no illusion about the benefits of changing career and finding work in game design. Thanks for paying attention, I hope everything is now a little clearer.

See you next time!
